Charitable Contributions

Ware Choral has raised funds for the Isabel Hospice for many years.

In 2015 we presented a cheque to the Hospice for £13,500. The money was raised from our performance of the Messiah in December, from a Grand Draw, from carol singing and some very generous donations.  We thank everyone who contributed in any way to raising this huge amount for The Isabel Hospice. Cheryl Cusack from the Hospice described the choir as being ‘truly amazing’ and said that the donation was a significant amount for the Hospice and would make a great difference to those who are being cared for.

The cheque was presented by Graham Warby, the former Chairman of the Ware Choral Society and the driving force behind this enormous fundraising effort for our charity. He was supported by Jenny Vivian, responsible for sending many, many emails. Sadly Jenny passed away during the Summer of 2017. She had worked at the Hospice for many years and we continue to support the hospice  in her memory.

In 2017, we received collections at the end of our two concerts in June and December and raised a further £2376.

Pauline Preston

Chairman of Ware Choral Society

2013 - 2018

On June 9th 2018 we sang Verdi’s Requiem, in memory of four of our long serving choir members whom we had sadly lost during the course of the year. They were Jenny Vivian, Joyce Sandell, Sheila Izzard, and Margaret Reid. Each made a huge contribution to the society.

A £4000 donation from the proceeds of this concert was made to the Isabel Hospice our long term chosen charity and for whom Jenny Vivian worked for so many years. It was her particular request that we sing the Verdi Requiem and what a joy it was. As Cheryl Cusack the Community fundraiser at Isabel Hospice said “How proud Jenny would have been of this wonderful outcome”.
